Every time I see "ceej" my brain says "Siege" instead of CJ. So now that's kinda stuck as my nickname for you in my head. ๐Ÿ˜…

Ceej is pronounced like "Siege" so you're not wrong!

      CJ

hi how ya doin? i was wondering if i could ask you some questions on how to properly post or start an art account

i was considering starting one but i was always a bit shy about it i am also unsure as to how to properly sign? the things i post

i see some artist use a watermark or simply write their @ somewhere on the corner

do i just write it on the artwork?

How you sign is entirely up to you! Some people sign with their whole @, some people (like me) just have a lil signature they use…

Whatever art you make though, you should try to get into the habit of signing (unless you wanna be completely anonymous, which is also totally fine). I usually just make a new layer and sign my art in the corner! If you're doing everything on one layer or you're doing traditional work, finding an easy spot to sign your name works too!

It's genuinely whatever feels best for you. There isn't one right or wrong way to sign your work!

      Hi Just out of question

how long does it take you to draw a sketch?

      by-the-power-of-kuriboh:

      ceejindeed:

It kind of depends on the piece and how concrete of an idea I have going into it. My sketches (the actual sketches I use as a base for full drawings) can range anywhere between "completely unintelligible scrawlings" to "overly fussy scribbling." The sketches are more supposed to be action/gesture-based notes that I leave for myself when I get to inking it.

I've never really timed myself before, but I'd say that the basic gesture of a sketch is nailed down in about 5 minutes or less, once I've decided on a pose. The nit picking/tweaking can last anywhere between another 5 to like… 15 minutes. Like I said, it depends on how fussy I'm being.

For reference though, this is what a lot of my sketches will look like compared to the final:

So you can kind of see that most of the detail goes in during the inking stage, and a lot of times things get tweaked or altered then, too.

I try to keep my sketches as loose as possible though so that my drawings are also loose and energetic… Often times if I put too much detail into something during the sketching stage, the inks become too stiff and look kind of lifeless.

Obviously this is just what happens when I work this way, I'm definitely not saying it would work for everyone. My brain just likes this better.

Hey CJ, I know this isn't the point, but the sketch having Kidd's sweater say Jingle Bells Jingle Bells Santa Fucked Your Mom just made my entire month

… that awkward moment when you realize that the joke you thought you couldn't reuse because everyone would recognize it is actually from five years ago,,,
